Yasuhiko Ueno (born 1973) participates in Atelier Corners in Osaka, a small workshop for the adults with Autism. Since 2005, he has been creating his own Bijin-ga, pictures of beautiful women, which is a traditional and popular genre in Japanese art. It has been said that the girls he prefers to draw are mean looking, but in reality they are simply empowered women, surrounded by certain fashion items like high-heels and lipstick. Though he doesn't explain in words, these modern girls are sparkling in Ueno's eyes via his drawings. Yukiko Koide Presents is delighted to exhibit the first solo show of Ueno's drawing.
