Tuesday through Friday, Noon to 6 PM
Yukiko Koide is pleased to present Remembrance of Oswald Tschirtner, an exhibition of drawings by the late Austrian artist.
Oswald Tschirtner (1920-2007) fought in the German army during the Second World War. He was institutionalized in 1946 and became one of the primary members of Haus der Künstler Gugging in Austria, founded by Dr. Leo Navratil as an experimental community for mentally ill patients with creative talents. Tschirtner’s drawings reveal his unique perspective, characterized by use of restrained minimal line. Christian belief influences his subject matter, yet his works hold a serenity and peace that resonate beyond religion. Yukiko Koide Presents will host a fourth exhibition of Tschirtner, with six drawings from 1973 through 2005.
