|*Keiichi Sumi : Piano in First Aid Box. 2001. Reassemblage of different materials.|
Owner of an antiquary in Waseda, Tokyo, Keiichi Summi dissects old industrial products and blows new life into scraps by reassembling them into new inventions. An unexpectedly poetic image emerges as unwanted fragments of various tools made for different purposes converge together, creating idyllic discordance. The “Book-washing Lamp”, the “Emergency Piano”, and the “Saddle Pillow” are some of Keiichi Sumi’s creations, born from his stoic intellect and playful ideas. We will exhibit 10 of Sumi’s works, including the aforementioned pieces.
