YUKIKO KOIDE PRESENTS
Madge Gill (1882-1961) spent her star-crossed childhood in Victorian London. Perhaps for her, art making was a way to appease herself and escape reality. After discovering spiritualism in 1920, she claimed to be guided by a spirit and produced a staggering number of works ranging from embroidery, knitted objects and paintings. The exhibit presents a collection of intricate drawings in which a woman speculated to be Madge Gill appears and reappears amidst the architectural "cognitive maze".
