YUKIKO KOIDE PRESENTS
The young Oswald Tschirtner's dream of becoming a priest was shattered by the cruelty of war when he was drafted into the German army in 1938 and sent to join the Stalingrad campaign. Psychologically damaged from the traumatizing war experience, Tschirtner was institutionalized upon his return at Gugging, a psychiatric hospital in Vienna, where he started drawing at the House of Artists. Were 60 years enough to heal the deep scars of the war?
We present the new works of Oswald Tschirtner (born in 1920) for the first time in Japan.
