Katsuhiro Terao （1960, Japan）
Born in Osaka, Terao worked as a welder at his father's iron factory after graduating from high school. Terao's life was fulfilled and happy during the twenty years he lived with his parents and worked with his colleagues. When the factory closed down and his parents died, from 2003 he started to go to Atelier Incurve, a centre for the mentally disabled, and began to draw. His theme has consistently been steel frame. Though materials and methods may vary from drawing, painting to sculpture, he obsessively draws steel constructions as though trying to recapture the happy days when he was a welder.
